That 90's Show
This reboot was disappointing. The actors who returned from the original series unfortunately demonstrate the lack of talent of the actors who are portraying the younger generation have. I was especially disappointed because Leia, the protagonist, is said to be 15 years old at the time these events happen in 1992. I also was around the same age as she was during that year of 1992, and this feels more like a Disney Channel series that is out of, and beyond time. It didn't feel familiar at all. Another disturbing aspect of this series, is the young age at which these characters are promiscuous, and exposed to drug use. Now, I think the great thing about the original series is that the ages of the teenagers are never mentioned. And the actors portraying the characters were clearly adults. So you never had any moral qualms about them doing drugs or having sex. Whereas in this incarnation, the characters are clearly played by actors who are of a similar age to their characters. So, watching them drink, smoke, and have sex, is a little bit icky. As I mentioned before, the only good parts of this series are seeing the chemistry between kitty and Red and the cameos of all the older cast members. Leverton Review 1/5
