Quarterback

I have a difficult relationship with sports. When I was young I had a favorite hockey team because you had to have a favorite hockey team in the time and place where I grew up. I played baseball, and I even watched an entire season of the CFL. I'm sure I must have watched an entire NFL game at some point in my life, but I don't remember it. But this documentary shows why American football is one of the greatest sports in the world. It doesn't so much revolve around the sport itself, but it's more about how the sport is organized. Basketball, baseball, hockey and soccer have ridiculously long seasons. So even if you wanted to, there is no way you could watch all of your teams games. The baseball season is 156 games, and in the NFL it's 17 games. I think any fan could make the commitment to watch 17 games. The entire play-offs consists of 13 games. It's great because realistically your fans are probably only going to watch three games. In the NHL, there's a chance that your team would have to play 28 games to win the championship. That's almost two entire NFL seasons. And when you have a one game championship that enables everyone, even the most casual fans, to sit and devote some time to your sport. Another great thing about this setup is that in other sports players getting injured is a routine, and it's kind of glorified, but in the NFL it is possible that a player can get injured and be able to have a championship. It's a bit crazy because the NHL is just as physical as the NFL, but the safety of the players is not really considered because the season is so excruciatingly long. I think even if you're not a fan of American football, you can watch this and appreciate the hard work it takes to be successful in the NFL.
