Ghost Busters: Answer the Call

I am giving this movie a 10-star rating, not because it deserves it, to counteract all the hate it has received over the years. There are two things that prevent this from being a great movie, and make it merely a good movie. The first is that for some reason it's a reboot of the Ghostbusters franchise but the original Ghostbusters, those were still alive, make cameos. I think you could have made a very similar movie without making it a reboot. And in fact, if it hadn't been a reboot, it would have made a lot more sense. It would have made sense for a team of scientists to come up with the idea of catching ghosts independently of the first team. Now why they hadn't heard of that team before is a complete mystery, that is a bigger problem throughout the whole Ghostbusters franchise that is not specific to this film. The second thing that prevents this from being a great film is the CGI which is just not high quality and there is quite a bit of it so that does distract from the film. I think the best special effect in the movie doesn't involve CGI at all, it involves a mannequin coming to life and following somebody in a very creepy way, which is great. But the actresses are hilarious, and they did not deserve the hate they got just for making this film. And it's crazy that they did get so much hate, considering so many people who were involved in the previous franchise were involved in this film too. In fact, this film probably marked the start of the anti-woke movement, which does not make any sense whatsoever because the film is not very woke. I think this was very unfair to the movie and people were unable to see it for what it is. I went to the cinema when it came out, and I laughed my ass off, I watched it for the second time and I chuckled a little bit and I just finished watching it for the third time and also chuckled a little bit at the jokes I didn't notice the first two times. Is it as good a movie as the first two Ghostbuster movies? No, the first is one of the greatest comedy movies of all time, so of course it would be hard to replicate that, and you shouldn't ask for more films in the franchise to do so because when that happens you just get the problems of the Star Wars sequels. So if you didn't watch this movie when it came out because you thought the idea of female Ghostbusters was somehow beyond the pale, maybe watch it now when the controversy has died down a little bit, and you might chuckle a little bit because it's an amusing film.
