The Parent Trap

For a live-action Disney film from the 1960s, it's not bad. There are some genuinely funny moments, and the parents of the twins have a chemistry that's hard to miss. However, the idea of the film is so crazy. Why would any parent decide to split up identical twins and not tell them that they have a twin? I understand that people getting divorced was sort of a new thing when this movie came out, but no parent would think that that would be a good idea. And even if you decided to handle it that way, what is the point in never telling the child you kept that they have a sister? It's an utterly bizarre plot device. And it's never even commented upon in the movie, they act like this is the most natural thing in the world to have happened. And it's not like the rest of the family didn't know what happened to the sisters. The only ones that didn't know that there were two of them were the sisters themselves. They're never mad about it, it's very unrealistic. The movie is also far too long, post Disney live action films from this time are about an hour and a half. This one is 2 hours and 10 minutes. It's not a bad movie, but I wouldn't recommend it.
